  • In flower Lord Derby's blossom is ornamental going on to produce large round-conical fruits green, turning yellow late in storage.. When cooked, the flesh has a strong sharp taste, which mellows as the fruit changes to yellow. Prefers a cool climate; popular garden variety in North and Scotland in part due to its resistance to scab and canker.
